BACKSTORY
Lines in Carl Sandburg's poem, “Memoir of a Proud Boy,” published in 1918 in his book Cornhuskers, may have lost their meaning for some readers. The purpose of this online exhibit is to provide solutions to some of the “riddles” and explain the early 20th century context. April 20, 2014, commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Ludlow Massacre.
